    Key Aim

    The key aim of the role is to establish an effective mechanism that ingrains the challenge of “change” into the culture of the business. The incumbent will be accountable and responsible for the timely delivery of projects that directly contribute to cost reduction targets through the elimination of waste and recurring problems.

    Responsibilities

    • Improving employee contribution by leading and driving change initiatives
    • Performance accountability for cells undergoing improvement.
    • Process improvement and elimination of waste
    • Devising and implementing improvement systems
    • Resolution of assembly problems, often of a complex nature.
    • Data gathering, analysis and identification of root cause and implementation of corrective actions
    • Continual analysis to identify and prioritise problems
    • Leading/facilitating problem solving teams
    • Supporting the development of a culture for problem elimination
    • Ensuring cell compliance with company procedures, work instructions and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Interacting with and involving other departments to establish far reaching improvement
    • Facilitate and deliver training sessions to others
    • Undertake a variety of other activities as instructed, that are within a Change Leaders capabilities

    Essential
    Excellent communication skills; proven people and influencing skills
    Flexible attitude to work and changing environment
    Presentation skills
    Experience of manufacturing/overhaul processes
    Project management
    Able to work in/lead a team with minimal supervision
    Attention to detail
    Valid UK driving licence
    Commercial awareness
    Strong analytical skills
    Positive track record of achievement and complex problem solving
    IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft office applications.
    Practical experience of continuous improvement/lean initiatives and tools eg 5S/6 sigma/8D investigation/SMED/7 wastes

    Desirable
    Degree qualified – engineering
    Formal lean manufacturing/CI qualifications eg 6 sigma/8D investigation/SMED/7 wastes/5S
    Experience in the rail industry
    Supervisory/leadership experience
