Job Description

School of Chemical Engineering & Analytical Science Closing date: 28/09/2010 Reference: EPS/10773

You will perform theoretical modelling and also computer modelling and simulation of sudsing processes (at the bubble scale) to support a joint experimental/theoretical/simulation project amongst all the various partners. The applicant should have experience of writing their own computer code (in a language such as C) for modelling of foams. They should also be familiar with standard foam rheology models (such as the viscous froth model).

You should have a PhD, or equivalent in physics, applied mathematics or chemical engineering, preferably in a degree programme of greater than 3 years duration. Applicants should have specific research experience of modelling foams at the bubble scale.

You will be expected to interact with other team members including Ph.D. students working on the overall project. (As such, a successful track-record of supervising Ph.D. students will be an advantage). Moreover you will be required to report scientific/technical results to the project consortium, both in the form of written reports and oral presentations. As such, you should have a strong track record of communicating research results. This should include publishing articles on bubble scale modelling of foams in peer-reviewed scientific journals. This should also include presenting work on foams/bubble scale modelling at international scientific conferences.

The role is available immediately, and is tenable until 30th June 2011.
