A Research Technician is sought to contribute to the development work of the Particle Physics group and be part of a small team of academics, researchers, engineers and technicians designing, manufacturing and testing novel detectors and instrumentation for the proposed Supernemo neutrino experiment.
You will have a degree/HND or equivalent experience in a physical science with experience of the construction and commissioning of scientific apparatus. A significant amount of the work will take place in a clean room environment. You should also be willing to travel and work outside normal business hours if occasionally required.
Working in a team, you will have good communication skills, communicating technical information with highly educated professionals from different disciplines. You will possess good mechanical and electrical skills, a familiarity with computer controlled instrumentation and strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
The post will be available from September 2010 for up to 24 months.
