The University of Manchester has a bold and exciting plan to be one of the top 25 Universities in the world by 2015. Towards this strategy, the University of Manchester has established the Dalton Nuclear Institute to make the University a leading world centre for nuclear research and education. The Chair in Nuclear Decommissioning Engineering is a permanent, full time post in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering with a major laboratory in the Dalton Cumbrian Facility (DCF) on the Westlakes Science Park.
You will be expected to lead and develop research across the field of Nuclear Decommissioning Engineering, establishing a vibrant research group at the DCF. Working with senior staff in Dalton and MACE, and engaging with external research partners, the new Professor will integrate with and develop their research strategy. Funding to support the new appointment is available to appoint a new senior lecturer and create a number of PhD studentships. An equipment and facilities budget is also available.
You will have a proven track record of senior leadership in the nuclear field with recognised expertise in a technical field relating to engineering decommissioning. The person will be self-motivated with expertise and motivation to make a leading contribution to the development of the research capability in this important field.
Salary
Salary will be in the Professorial range.
